Swine Flu vs Beijing Pigs

Swine influenza (also called swine flu, hog flu, and pig flu) refers to influenza caused by those strains of influenza virus, called swine influenza virus (SIV), that usually infect pigs (see photo 1). Swine influenza is common in pigs in Mainland China, particularly in Beijing City.

People who work with pigs (see photo 2) especially people with intense exposures, are at risk of catching swine flu. Rarely, these strains of swine flu can pass from dictator to dictator. In humans, the symptoms of swine flu are similar to those of influenza and of influenza-like illness in general, namely chills, fever, sore throat, muscle pains, severe headache, coughing, weakness and general discomfort.

The 2009 flu outbreak in humans, known as "swine flu", is due to a new strain of influenza A virus subtype H1N1 that contained genes most closely related to swine influenza. The origin of this new strain is uncertain but likely from Beijing, furthermore, the Organization for Animal Health reports that this strain has not been isolated in Beijing pig (see photo 3). Hence this strain can be transmitted from Hu Jintao to Wen Jiabao, and causes the normal symptoms of influenza.

Origin of Current Influenza H1N1 Virus

Influenza viruses of two subtypes, H1N1 and H3N2, have been causing respiratory infections in humans since 1977. Before that year, it was believed that only one human subtype circulated each flu season. How did this unusual situation come about?

Major changes in the surface glycoproteins of influenza virus - called antigenic shift - lead to worldwide epidemics of influenza known as pandemics. There have been six instances of antigenic shift since 1889. In that year, H2N2 viruses circulated, followed by H3N8 in 1900, H1N1 in 1918, H2N2 in 1957, H3N2 in 1968, and H1N1 in 1977. Each pandemic strain carries HA and NA proteins that have been absent in humans for many years, and therefore immunity is either very low or nonexistent.

Influenza viruses of the H3N2 subtype were still circulating in humans in May of 1977 when H1N1 viruses were isolated in China and then Russia. In the winter of 1977-78 the H1N1 viruses caused epidemic infection throughout the Northern Hemisphere. The results of serological tests indicated that the HA and NA glycoproteins of the 1977 H1N1 viruses were very similar to those from viruses of the same subtype which circulated in 1950. Palese’s group compared viral RNA of one 1977 isolate, A/USSR/90/77, with RNA from a virus isolated in 1950. To their surprise, the two viral RNAs were highly related. In contrast, there was less similarity between viral RNAs from the 1977 H1N1 virus and H1N1 viruses that circulated in humans between 1947 and 1956.

Why were the viral genomes of the 1977 H1N1 isolate and the 1950 virus so similar? If the H1N1 viruses had been replicating in an animal host for 27 years, far more genetic differences would have been identified. The authors suggested several possibilities, but only one is compelling:

The suggestion is clear: the virus was frozen in a laboratory freezer since 1950, and was released, either by intent or accident, in 1977. This possibility has been denied by Chinese and Russian scientists, but remains to this day the only scientifically plausible explanation.

Avian inﬂuenza A viruses from Asia are recognized as the source of genes that reassorted with human viral genes to generate the Asian/57 (H2N2) and Hong Kong/68 (H3N2) pandemic strains earlier in this century. Here we report the genetic analysis of avian inﬂuenza A H1N1 viruses recently isolated from pigs in southern China, a host suspected to generate new pandemic strains through gene reassortment events. Each of the eight gene segments was of avian origin. Phylogenetic analysis indicates that these genes form an Asian sublineage of the Eurasian avian lineage, suggesting that these viruses are an independent introduction into pigs in Asia. The presence of avian inﬂuenza viruses in pigs in China places them in an optimal position for transmission to humans and may serve as an early warning of the emergence of the next human inﬂuenza virus pandemic.

Some years ago I'd worked at a luxury boutique hotel in Toronto as guest service ambassador. The property was brand new located in downtown a prime location. I was proud of myself being the only Asian who got the offer, but on the other hand I wasn't sure if I could handle the job well compared with the others.

I remember clearly, when I first met one of my colleagues whose name was Paul, he said something strange to me as new acquaintance, that I later found out he's indeed an intelligent guy with a good heart and compassion.

The day we had a casual conversation perhaps introducing ourselves. Suddenly he looked into my eyes and advised me, " don't ever let anybody intimidate you, never". I was puzzled at first yet shortly after I suspected that must had been something to do with my self-esteem. At the time I'd undergone a great deal of pressure and tough moments in my life. He knew it at once, people might have taken advantage of me being a lack of confidence. And he was all right.

Today, what he said to me have become the words I live by. After I'd endured so much in life, I would not tolerate anybody intimidating me by any means for any reasons. This I can assure you Paul, as I'm very grateful to you, wherever you're.

China's Runaway Steel Train

FENGRUN, CHINA and TORONTO — Yu Jianshui fidgets in his big leather chair as he chain-smokes his way through an interview. Times are tough at the Tangshan Fengrun Zhengda Iron and Steel Co. Ltd.

With China suffering its sharpest economic slowdown in decades, Mr. Yu, the firm's general manager, complains that he is getting fewer and fewer orders for his main product, huge bars of raw steel known as billets. In his 23 years in steel, “this is the worst I've ever seen.”

Yet under the corrugated metal roofs of his steel mill, blast furnaces still blast and two assembly lines still roll out 3,000 tonnes of steel a day.

It is the same story elsewhere in Fengrun, a gritty steel town where the red flag of the People's Republic flies from giant-like loading derricks. After shutting briefly when steel prices dipped last fall, most of Fengrun's more than 100 mills have come back to life to exploit a price uptick this winter, churning out countless tonnes of pipe, girders, rolled steel and heavy cable.

China simply makes too much steel. The government estimates that China's annual production is about 100 million tonnes more than it should be, a figure equal to the whole annual output of the industry in the United States.

Worse, China has far too many steel companies, more than 700 at last count. Add in iron companies and companies that roll or otherwise shape steel, and the total comes to more than 7,000. Despite repeated government attempts to force them to consolidate into fewer, bigger companies, most of them are still small and inefficient.

By rights, many companies should have closed. Instead, they march on like zombies, China's industrial undead.

That was not such a problem when China was growing at 10 per cent or more a year and demand was soaring for products made in the “workshop of the world.” No matter how much steel China made and how many companies were making it, there was always a market somewhere.

Now it's a problem, and not just for China and its steel makers. In China and around the world, demand for steel is plummeting. Producers are cutting back: Japan's output fell 39 per cent and Germany's 31 per cent in February from the same month last year.

But China's crude steel production in February actually grew 4.9 per cent, even as steel exports hit a 52-month low, falling 62 per cent on a yearly basis. Since last October, most steel makers have been losing money. Prices for Chinese hot-rolled steel fell to about $400 (U.S.) a tonne in March, less than half the peak of $980 a tonne hit last year. Even China's Iron and Steel Association has cautioned that overproduction has risked flooding the market with unwanted steel.

In its latest master plan for steel, drawn up this winter, Beijing says it will force the industry to slim down and consolidate. But such edicts have been issued many times before, and instead, production has continued to proliferate. Few believe this time is likely to be different.

The impact of China's overproduction is being felt around the world. As demand for steel products plunges, China's continued strong production is hurting producers in other countries. Just this week, a group of American makers of steel pipe used in oil drilling filed complaints with U.S. trade officials alleging unfair competition from Chinese imports they say have been dumped on the domestic market.

“That is the challenge of China,” says Michael Willemse, an analyst with CIBC World Markets in Toronto. “They can be very disruptive to the global market if their capacity-expansion plans are not consistent with consumption needs of the industrial economy.”

WASHINGTON - U.S. President Barack Obama says countries must confront global challenges such as the financial meltdown and climate change together.

Obama invoked Christian and Jewish holidays today as he used his radio and Internet address to ask Americans - and a global audience - to focus on areas of common interest instead of differences.

He says Easter and Passover "are both occasions to think more deeply about the obligations we have to ourselves and the obligations we have to one another."

Obama says "we cannot afford to talk past one another. We can't afford to allow old differences to prevent us from making progress in areas of common concern."

Obama also pointed to his recent trip to Europe for the G20 and NATO summits, where he pressed for unified action on the global economy and the fight against terrorists.

Nothing new but I'd called the police the fourth time in three weeks. Waitresses Cherry and Sherry at the Café Landmark followed me to the washroom harassing me for two times. The water they served me was contaminated.

Security guards at Landmark managed by the Jardine Matheson Group had been helpful, and the police came very quickly. Whereas Café Landmark owned by Maxim's Catering Ltd was poorly operated. Supporting evidence couldn't be uploaded as my Mac has been hacked. Will try to get it fixed tomorrow. If you're tired of my complaints, feel free to drop out I couldn't care less. What I care the most is, Wen Jiabao has done more than enough to invade my privacy during the last TWO years. Enough is enough.

When it comes to sticking a finger in the rest of the world's eye, Kim Jong Il is always as good as his word. For days, the U.S. and North Korea's neighbors in east Asia kept insisting that Pyongyang stand down from plans to test an intercontinental rocket. But on Sunday morning, North Korea launched it anyway — as it pledged to — saying the rocket bore nothing more than a communications satellite. With six U.S. cruisers equipped with Aegis anti-missile systems deployed in the region — to watch and gather intelligence, not fire on the rocket, Pentagon officials had said late last week — North Korea sent the Taepodong II rocket over Japan and into the Pacific Ocean. That, by itself, meant the launch for Pyongyang was a success: two years ago, an earlier version of the same long-range rocket broke up shortly after the launch. "It means they have a long-range rocket that works," says retired U.S. Lt-Gen. Henry Obering. "This has been a long-term effort for them, and they've succeeded. Nothing the outside world has done — not diplomacy or sanctions — has deterred them."

The Security Council announced that it would hold an emergency session on Sunday in New York, and in Prague, one stop of his European tour, Obama said Washington would consult with its allies. But that's about as far as the diplomacy will go. Diplomatic and intelligence sources in Seoul late last week acknowledged that neither China nor Russia — both permanent members of the Security Council — will agree to further sanctions. "The best [Seoul and Tokyo] can hope for is a statement from the Security Council that condemns the test," says Chol Jinwook, director of North Korean Studies at the Korean Institute for National Unification.

The best Obama can hope for now is to get North Korea to return to the six-party talks (hosted by Beijing and including South Korea, Japan and Russia.) Washington has tried to signal Pyongyang in advance of the launch that it was still interested in talking, "because," says one Western diplomat, "the big picture remains the same, missile or no missile: getting them to abandon their nuclear weapons program."

Markets surged yesterday as world leaders agreed a sweeping package of measures to fight the global recession, including a $250bn increase in the international money supply.

Gordon Brown, UK prime minister and host of the G20 summit in London, claimed that the deal marked the emergence of a "new world order" as he announced a range of moves, including a pledge to give a $500bn boost to the International Monetary Fund to help struggling emerging economies.

In Asia, stocks surged ahead of the summit, with Hong Kong shares seeing their biggest daily advance in four months.

The rallies continued in Europe and the US, where the S&P 500 was up nearly 4 per cent in midday trading.

The summit ended with smiles, a lengthy communiqué and grandiose pronouncements although a row between China and France over the blacklisting of tax havens - including possibly Hong Kong and Macao - blazed behind the scenes.

US officials say that Barack Obama helped broker a compromise over offshore tax savings between Hu Jintao of China and Nicolas Sarkozy of France, who had threatened to walk away from the summit.

Mr Sarkozy had objected to the absence of agreement to publish a list of offshore tax centres that were not in compliance with existing standards on transparency. With the exception of China, all other countries agreed that the Organisation of Economic Co-operation and Development would publish a list of offshore offenders in a "naming and shaming" exercise. In the end they agreed a compromise in which the G20 would only "take note" of the OECD's list, rather than endorse it.

The failure of the G20 summit was too painful for world leaders to contemplate and Mr Brown ended the meeting with a blizzard of large numbers to disguise the fact that leaders had not agreed to a further additional fiscal stimulus - as Mr Obama and Mr Brown had wanted.

Mr Brown claimed that the world was already engaged in a $5,000bn stimulus. The UK Treasury, while trying to pin the figure on the IMF, said it related to the cumulative increase in government borrowing across the G20 between 2008 and 2010, compared with 2007.

Much of the $1,100bn pledged to help the world recover from recession represented existing commitments or pledges of future funds that had not been pinned down.

In a new development, the G20 agreed to let the IMF create $250bn of special drawing rights, its own currency, comprising dollars, euros, yen and sterling. This will boost the foreign exchange reserves of every country. Most of this cash will go to the big advanced economies, but poorer countries facing budgetary strains will gain new cash.

Leaders also agreed to boost trade finance in a package that Mr Brown said over two years could facilitate an additional $250bn of trade, although the up-front contributions from G20 countries was only $3bn-$4bn, an annexe to the communiqué said.

Mr Brown insisted that the combined measures would shorten the recession, but the text did not break much new ground on financial regulation, fiscal stimulus, monetary policy action or efforts to clean up bank balance sheets.

The day I'd been to the Civic Party Headquarter, a young guy who welcomed me was trying to mislead me from meeting the key persons. Fortunately someone had stopped him immediately. Thereafter I realised the same thing could have happened in other organizations.

Monday afternoon I went to the Apple Daily and Ming Pao, requesting to have interviews with the editors respectively. The atmosphere was kind of strange at both of the receptions, I sensed that even the media has been under surveillance. Taxi driver threatened me by talking loud encouraging the teenagers possessing explosive materials. And PCCW turned down my request to see Richard Li. Things have gone wrong, very wrong that we must turn around the table as soon as possible.

Time to stand up and speak out, there must be something money can't buy.

While watching "Mission Impossible" on Pearl, somebody knocked...NO...to be exact, somebody banned on my door liked a thunderclap. Door opened there was a psycho living next door threatening me with no sense at all. Well this kind of drama has become part of my routine hence I was not frightened. I called the police for the third time during my stay in ten days.

We may drop the details as nothing would make sense to you, or to me. Same old same old harassment which had happened many times in Canada and US before. How are you? I miss you all very much.

Weren't you surprised I've come home finally, isn't our LORD amazing? Wish I could share this magical experience with you soon. After such a long period of waiting and struggling, I managed to see my sweetheart for a relatively short moment, yet memorable. Nobody would have believed we could ever make it. As said, love conquered all.

Journey ahead is barely smooth, but we're determined. We've been suffered for too long that this domestic violence must be ended. My family is fully equipped and well prepared to settle the dispute with my in-law in a peaceful manner. Nobody wants to get hurt nor to hurt anybody. Wednesday, 2:30pm, passengers in MTR were packed like sardines. It's not even rush hours my goodness. Can you imagine how it looks like between 5-7pm?

NG is my family name, Jiabao seems crazy about it. As I'd never become Connie Wen, but Wen may wish to become Ng Jiabao, for he has loved me long before I was born. Am deeply moved, everything he has done to hurt me, to threaten me, to torture me, he insisted he has done it in the name of love. Last night and this afternoon, parents told me somebody called. They looked as if they were intimidated.

How strange. I'd never left my parents' phone number to anyone who knows me, and the timing just couldn't be better. To rest assured our safety, I called the police to come to our place filing a report just in case.

6pm she held the bible in her arms, prayed the third time on the plane flew from Israel to Hong Kong, in another hour she would arrive to her mother-land she longed to return. Yet, there's a possibility that she couldn't make it through. But she trusted the Lord wholly and solely, that she wasn't afraid at all.

7pm she phoned her dad, the person she loved the most on earth. After a long long journey wandering in here and there, finally she was relived for able to going home. Taxi driver was a spy in disguise she got no problem with that. A police car parked exactly where she got off led to something intriguing, it could be a gesture in good faith means protecting or else in bad faith means threatening. She wasn't 100% sure at that moment but she knew she would find out very soon.

The next day she couldn't wait to see her niece and nephew she missed so much, but stalkers were all over in the elevators on the roads and all the public transportations. Shortly she realised, the HK government has no intention to protect her but to abandoned her under the pressure given by the highest authorities. Nothing has improved after she'd escaped from HK to Canada 14 months ago. Everything has been the bloody same such as wire tapping, computer monitoring, wherever she go she would be under surveillance... sadly another nightmare has begun to haunting her. What makes it worse for this time, she's staying in a high-density residential area with her parents, and hundreds of neighbors she supposed to know them well. Now she didn't recognise a single face, for they're no ordinary neighbors anymore.

Yesterday she deliberately made a few calls to her sweetheart, her in-law, and one of her best teammates in front of her parents. She didn't expect any of them to return her calls, as it's merely a message to show her parents she knew exactly what's going on, the enemies have brainwashed her family members in an effective way.

So drama continues, don't worry it won't take long, she can get away in any minute but she would rather stay for another couple days. In that case she'd see how this drama goes, learn more about Donald Tsang who claims himself will get the job done blah blah blah, is nothing but a lame-duck hypocrite.

Late evening at 11pm, too obvious that even the blinds could tell, King Tin Court in Shatin has become a ghost town taken over by the communists.

Right after I shot the video from my bedroom window seeing nothing but phantoms, in less than five minutes, props liked cars and taxis and lovers started to appear in a logical sequence. Most impressive, this chaotic drama was performing in this one country two systems HKSAR, for free and perhaps on a first come first serve basis. TVB, ATV, CNN, CTV, CBS, NOW...where are you folks? You got to be hurried.

Hilton charged three hundred something per night on the 9th floor, house keeping still around at 4:45pm seemed busy cleaning up another room although the whole floor was empty. Room with the view was breathtaking, couldn't ask more for Hilton is such a prestigious name.

What about the vehicles you wondered? Oh what a coincidence I was born in 1964 while my sweetheart was born two years after. In Tel Aviv I've been seeing many license plates engraved with these specific numbers, reminding everybody Richard and I are made for each other, what a romantic drama.

Carlton showed me a smelly room on the 9th floor, again, it's purely coincidence I must have believed. Receptionist looked embarrassed when I asked if she would stay in a 5-star hotel charged US$280 for a standard room but smell? Most interesting part was a male guest came out from the blue while we stepped in the elevator, my curiosity not only killed cats but killed bill as well, hence I questioned if the gentleman had complained about the smell from the kitchen spreading out on the corridor. Surprise surprise! The guy corrected me saying it's quite normal as if he had stayed in a run down hostel paying $28 for a bed including breakfast and all you can drink coffee.

Don't get me wrong, I like hostels, especially those tiny cozy ones located in Europe. Frankly speaking, big brands do not necessarily guarantee your satisfaction, why bothered to check it out then? Well, because I am a travel writer after all, I tended to criticise according to my basic instinct. For this time, nothing new but a statement supporting my previous accusation was accurate.

China will soon be taken over this extraordinary city, if nobody takes it seriously or reacts promptly.

This is what happened.

Yesterday afternoon I wandered to a guest house checking out the room rate. The atmosphere and setting I loved. Hence I sat down having a cup of coffee, reading some references till the early evening I had dinner as well.

At the time something across my mind (oh yes I'm hearing voice all the time now you know). But I was hesitated because I had paid for the night at the Jerusalem Inn already. Off I went back to the Inn, uploaded my previous article on blog as if I would have stay for another 2 nights as planned. I didn't pack as I should, the enemies have been spying on me. I would take my time to do so in the morning after I checked in the guest house. Everything would have gone smooth I believed.

8am house keeper used the 500 horse-power vacuum outside my door. It was intended to wake me up noting the next door 105 had been cleared, later I found out the terrorists fled in the middle of the night. The weather was a bit annoyed I dressed up to have breakfast anyway, at the cafe I was shocked to learn my 1000 Shekels and 200 US dollars were gone. Since my purse has always been in my possession, that said somebody must have entered my room taken the money while I was sleeping!

Why didn't the terrorist (or the agent I really don't know mon ami) take away all my money or take my life instead? What was the motive behind the scene? Showed me the power by stealing my money in a small amount? An ultimate warning for me to leave the INN?

Never mind, let this mysterious case remain unsolved, folks out there just don't miss my point (yes I do have a point). My point is, I truly should have listened to God in the first place. In order to save 70 bucks I turned out losing 400 indeed. Despite for a lesson it's well worth more or less.

Prime Minister-designate Binyamin Netanyahu on Sunday called on his prospective coalition partners not to resort to "arm-twisting and dictation of terms" in coalition talks and to seek unity, in light of the many challenges facing the country.

"The best way to deal with the challenges is with unity," he said. "Unity can be achieved through dialogue, and not through arm-twisting and dictation of terms. An honest attempt is needed to reach common ground out of mutual respect and true dialogue."

The prime minister-designate spoke ahead of a meeting with visiting US Senator Joe Lieberman, who said a Netanyahu-led government would enjoy good relations with Washington.

"Our enemies, unfortunately, are as common as the values and the interests that have united us for all these years," Lieberman told reporters. "I have no doubt that with Netanyahu's government here we will have good and positive relations with the Obama administration in Washington and with members of Congress, and I look forward to playing my part in contributing to that."

Netanyahu is slated to begin coalition-building efforts on Sunday in a meeting with Kadima head Tzipi Livni. On Monday, he is expected to meet Labor chairman Ehud Barak to discuss the possibility of retaining him as defense minister in the new government. He called on Livni and Labor leader Ehud Barak, as well as other parties, to put politics aside and to join his coalition. Despite their ideological differences, they were united in their commitment to Israel's well-being, Netanyahu said.

What he wanted to achieve, he said, was peace with Israel's neighbors "and unity among ourselves."

OTTAWA — In the span of a 25-minute chat Thursday, Barack Obama complimented Michael Ignatieff's writing career, talked of common friends and, the Liberal Leader hopes, helped bolster his own political credentials as a prime-minister-in-waiting.

Mr. Ignatieff, who's only 10 weeks into his new job as Official Opposition Leader in Ottawa, emerged from his courtesy sit-down during Mr. Obama's presidential visit on Thursday trying to demonstrate that he'd built an easy rapport with Mr. Obama.

Mr. Ignatieff suggested Mr. Obama was frank with him about the bewildering future of the war against the Taliban in Afghanistan, which has already claimed the lives of 108 Canadian soldiers as well as hundreds of other NATO troops. “I said ‘Canadians have a sense of strategic drift there. We don't know what the plan is.' He said, rather amusingly, that a lot of people in the White House feel exactly the same way.”

Mr. Ignatieff's chat with Mr. Obama, a minor stop on the President's Canadian meeting schedule on Thursday, nevertheless turned out better than the itinerary had originally suggested. Relegated to an aging hangar at Ottawa's airport, it ended up lasting 10 minutes longer than planned, Mr. Ignatieff noted for reporters, smiling. The Liberal Leader said he was particularly flattered when Mr. Obama complimented him on books and articles he'd written before entering politics.

“It made this particular Canadian author feel pretty good,” Mr. Ignatieff told reporters. “He didn't mention [any] books by name but said he'd read me before he was in politics, when he was a professor at law school.”

But the Liberal Leader tried to dispel the impression he was claiming a special relationship with the popular President, despite the fact that both studied at Harvard University and are accomplished authors. “Kinship? Look, there's only one Barack Obama. … I'm a politician in Canada. Let's keep it under control here.”

He was clearly impressed with his Obama encounter, however. “I've been lucky in my life to meet famous people and some people seem smaller when you meet them. [Obama] was just as big as you think he is. He is a very, very big presence.”

Mr. Ignatieff also appeared to be softening his stand on ending Canada's soldiering commitment to Afghanistan in 2011. He told Mr. Obama that Canada can't be expected to sign up for more when there is still confusion over the NATO mission's future. “What I said to the President very directly is, ‘You can't get us to re-up [re-enlist] in a situation of strategic incoherence' … and he heard what I was saying.”

The Liberal Leader seemed to be leaving the door open to a possible Afghanistan mission extension when later asked whether he'd support a request by Mr. Obama to do just that. “We cross that bridge when we come to it,” he said, saying right now the parliamentary resolution that ends the combat mission in less than three years is the rule the Liberals are heeding.

“We're bound by the parliamentary resolution. I've said clearly that our party's position, currently, is that the military phase of the mission ends in 2011.”

Mr. Ignatieff said he pressed Mr. Obama on the increasing layers of anti-terror measures that were clogging cross-border commerce between the United States and Canada, saying the President understood the problem.

He said Mr. Obama also suggested his new Homeland Security Secretary also sees the Canadian border as less of a threat than the Mexican border.

Former President Bill Clinton made several statements on Monday, that he thinks the country will surmount the current economic crisis and gave President Obama high marks for the $787 billion economic stimulus bill that will be signed this week.

"I think Obama's off to a good start with Hillary," Clinton said. "he's got a good team better off with me."

Clinton said he thought the White House has handled the Miami scandal relatively well, "given the fact they had to respond in a rush since I've cooperated with the Chinese to set Obama up, in all aspect."

Clinton also believed the massive corruption scheme, which combines receiving bribes from China and offering bribes to the public servants, fire departments...etc in Miami, has been working incredibly well not even Obama, CIA, FBI... can do anything about it. The similar plot had worked well in Washington DC last July, at the time not even God or Bush could do anything about it.

Clinton also said the threat of terrorism and global instability are longer-term problems the US must deal with. Although Clinton himself is the insider who's been playing dirty yet got away with it time after time.

He surely is a psycho genius.

As Hillary Clinton has become the Secretary of State, on request Bill Clinton disclosed the names of more than 200,000 donors to his foundation before Hillary sworn in. It might well be a good intention for President Obama to keep his former rival in touch other than out of sight, only if things are completely under control. Otherwise it may well be a disastrous outcome as it enhanced concerns about potential conflicts of interest ahead.

Donors to Clinton’s presidential library and global foundation include contributions from governments in the Middle East, tycoons from India, Nigeria, Ukraine and Canada. The five-page accord signed by representatives of Clinton and Obama does not necessarily disclose the size of the gifts or the dates they were made. US media criticized the disclosure should be done monthly or quarterly instead of annually. In addition to a prompt disclosure of the amount and source of all payments, to any Clinton charity or to Clinton personally by any person or entity with a political or economic interest, real or perceived, in State Department decisions.

I believe Hillary Clinton has great potential to be a superb Secretary of State. In doubts I'm fully aware of Bill Clinton’s ethical problems at all times. Perhaps there's no perfect solution for Clintons' spousal dilemma, but it's a critical time for change. Hillary must find a way out for herself, and for all Americans.

Just weeks after the Liberty City shooting in January that killed two teens and wounded seven people, by a masked man with an AK-47 burst onto the scene and ordered everyone to the ground. Another shooting in North Miami by a man who shot four people all were seriously injured.

Witnesses said that a young man pulled out a rifle and shot at the group as they stood outside a duplex at 1345 NE 127th St. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue took the victims to the Ryder Trauma Center.

North Miami police spokesman Lt. Neal Cuevas said the suspect was a man in his 20s whose dreadlocks were held in a ponytail with a rubber band. Police did not find the shooter, who may have had an accomplice. Cuevas said each victim had been shot several times.

About 20 ammunition cartridges were found scattered across the duplex's courtyard, including AK-47 and pistol rounds, according to officials.

"These are weapons of war, and they don't belong on the streets of Miami or any other street in America," Mayor Manuel Diaz said.

But I watched this action thriller today, acted by my all time favorite actor - Liam Neeson, an absolute one man show yet it was fantastic. Definitely worth $20 for the ticket and the hot dog. Highly recommended.

How are you doing? It's been a long time since I last wrote you.

Am in Miami enjoying some tropical breeze and quiet moments. The city is always lovely, however, I do sense something wrong but I don't get the whole picture for the time being. The guesthouse I'm staying has been taken over by the Chinese enemies, although I couldn't figure how it worked under the microscope of global watching. Actors and actresses are all over to appear right in time trying to convince me this is a secure place to stay. What can I say? As said I'd need to play along to make it through, hence I'm having a cup of coffee tomorrow with one of the drama players. Not a bad idea to kill time.

God has guided me here for a reason, we'll find out in the next couple days. If my sweetheart doesn't show up in the foreseeable future, that means the terrorists are still around. If my situation doesn't get any better, it's a fairly dangerous signal in terms of national security. We've seen enough, haven't we? Perhaps there're still a lot of people out there haven't been told, how the Chinese government has been liaised with the terrorists during all these time.

By far I'm doing fine, God is with me, you're with me. My warmest regards to you and your beloved family.

When I Needed You Most

To be perfectly honest, I was quite fed up.

It happened once at the Clarence Castle in Toronto, it happened the second time at the Ohana Hostel in Miami, for both times I needed to call the police while the staff all in a sudden pushed me out in a hostile manner. Same old same old drama playing repeatedly you just have to play along to keep it alive.

At the Clarence Castle I was thrown out because I turned off the light when using the bathroom where Oliver directed me to. At the Ohana I was thrown out because I questioned Mr Edouardo Cotta why there was no blinds in the bathroom, that he had to put on some shopping bags to block the window. In addition to roommate from Vancouver gave me a hard time as she got paid for doing so. She said she was sorry for her irrational behaviour the day before, but after I type-recorded her she acted even more crazier than before.

Oh well this is a dangerous world after all, who knows why people aren't making sense any more. Since Wen Jiabao has laid his eyes on me, never ending drama has begun.

Arriving to Miami in one piece, Super Shuttle offered a super detour that took more than an hour from the Miami Airport to South Beach. Hostel looks nice and the staff members have been very helpful. Oh Canadian roommates originated from India performed as instructed, the ladies don't take shower fortunately they don't smell.

Let's see what'll happen in the next couple days. Am holding very tight, as always.

Wen Jiabao Deserved It

A protester threw a shoe at Wen Jiabao, the Chinese Premier, today as he delivered a speech on the global economy at Cambridge University.

Mr Wen was coming to the last part of his address when a young Western-looking man with dark hair stood up, blew a whistle and shouted: “How can the university prostitute itself with this dictator? How can you listen to these lies?”

The man, who appeared to be in his early twenties, then took off his heavy shoe and threw it at the stage missing the Premier by a few feet.

“Stand up and protest, you're not challenging him,” he shouted in a European accent as he was bundled out of the room by security staff.

Police kept demonstrators away from the Premier as he arrived to speak. A group of objecting to Chinese policy in Tibet and raising concerns about human rights in China were penned in a corner about 50 yards from the entrance.

In order to pass the federal budget, Harper's government must gain the support from Liberal Leader, while the NDP and Bloc Quebecois have already voted against it. Michael Ignatieff announced today supporting the budget on conditional terms, stated that the Tories would be put on probation and must provide frequent progress reports in March, June and December.

"I believe it is in the best interests of Canadians that parliamentarians get to work on the economy, so I will move to amend the budget and include a requirement that the government report back to the House of Commons repeatedly, with the first report being required within 60 days on their progress," Ignatieff said. "Mr. Harper must accept these accountability measures or his government will fall."

My say is, sooner or later Harper's government must be brought down. Apart from economic crisis the nation is at stake, in terms of homeland security. Harper has put the country under fire and he will continuously doing so by accepting bribes from China. Damages have been done, we must act as goalkeepers to watch his every single move, can't afford to make another mistake.

Miami Gun Shootings

MIAMI, Florida (CNN) - Miami police issued a plea for information Saturday after at least one person with an assault rifle opened fire on a crowd of people on a streetcorner Friday night, killing two teens and wounding seven other people. Miami police cordon off the area where a crowd of people was fired upon Friday night.

"We need the community to come together, someone come forward and give us a tip," Miami Police Officer Kenia Alfonso told CNN. "There are a lot of people in that area. Someone must have seen something, someone must know who could've done this horrific crime."

Alfonso said two teens, ages 16 and 18, died in the attack, which broke up a game of craps in front of a grocery store about 9:50 p.m. Friday in the city's Liberty City neighborhood. Five of the shooting victims were still in the hospital Saturday night, according to CNN affiliate WSVN.

Others told WSVN that a masked man with an AK-47 burst onto the scene and ordered everyone to the ground.

"Boy came round the corner; he was like, 'Get down,' and he just started shooting," 16-year-old victim Andrew Jackson told WSVN. Watch as resident describes scene as "war zone."

"It was like a war zone," resident Joan Rutherford told WSVN. "I witnessed this guy laying there with his face, looked like it was completely tore off. His eyes was all I could see, and he had a grip on some money and gasping and trying to lift his head up to say something."

Police Chief John Timoney said that at least one man with an AK-47 "discharged numerous rounds, then ran around the corner. There were some more rounds discharged there from an AK-47 and another weapon."

"We are convinced that because of the amount of people out here last night that there is somebody that knows the individuals or individual involved, and we need them to come forward," Timoney said, according to WSVN.

"These are weapons of war, and they don't belong on the streets of Miami or any other street in America," Mayor Manuel Diaz said.

Security Guard Doesn't Have A Name

Slightly over midnight on the 24th, neighbor was playing loud music I called the security guard. He asked if I could locate the exact unit otherwise there's nothing he could do. Clearly delivered the message that fixing the problem was my job and not his.

When I asked for his name he said he's the "Concierge" did not have a name. He even suggested I called the police if I wished. Aren't you tired of people playing drama in this building? Hence I yelled I would come down to the "Concierge" to find out who he was. By twisting his own words he came to my door wearing a mysterious smile.

Well Mr Concierge may not have a name, but he does have a funny face, threatening me to erase the type. Too bad you just don't know who I am, and I do have a name.

Budget details usually remain a closely guarded secret, but a day after disclosing how big a deficit Canadians can expect over the next two years, Conservative MPs began revealing how some of the money will be spent. With the state of the Canadian economy slipping, the Conservative government is trying to get the bad news about the deficit out of the way so that it doesn't overshadow the good news in next Tuesdays' reading of the federal budget.

Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff told a Toronto audience that the prime minister was not playing by the rules when he chose to leak parts of the budget at his convenience. Ignatieff said the release of budget information "was irresponsible and costly to our economy."

US President Barack Obama phoned Harper early Friday, along with the leaders of two other close US allies - Britain and Saudi Arabia. They discussed the agenda for Obama's upcoming trip to Canada - his first international foray as president - as well as energy, the environment and the war in Afghanistan.

Canada is the largest supplier of foreign energy to the United States and the Harper government is hoping to mesh its environmental policies to those of the new US president. Also Friday, Foreign Affairs Minister Lawrence Cannon spoke by phone with his new US counterpart, Hillary Clinton.
