Alright, Dave didn't come, but I watched his show. John McCain was on, talked briefly about his agenda for the Presidential campaign. Same old same old, Letterman raised the concern of the military spending on Iraq. By giving sufficient time, I believe, John McCain is the right person to take over the aftermath. For he was the Lieutenant Commander almost got killed during the Vietnam War in 1967.
He had become a prisoner when his A-4E Skyhawk was shot down by a missile over Hanoi. He was badly injured so being tortured and interrogated in many intolerable ways, at the Hanoi's Hoa Loa Prison. Later McCain was sent to a cell, with two other Americans who thought McCain would have died very soon. Worst of all, in March 1968, McCain was put into solitary confinement, where he had detained for two years. Yet he managed to survive and was finally released in 1973. McCain was a war hero and is a patriot, his record proves it well.
It's hard to understand why a war is needed or declared until you've set foot in the war zone. Remembering President Bush spoke to the Nation after the 911, "America did not ask for this war, and every American wishes it were over. So do I. But the war is not over, and it will not be over until either we or the extremists emerge victorious. If we do not defeat these enemies now, we will leave our children to face a Middle East overrun by terrorist states and radical dictators armed with nuclear weapons. We are in a war that will set the course for this new century, and determine the destiny of millions across the world."
