Write To The Point

1. Write a headline that takes an obviously controversial or bizarre stance. Write a headline that’s in your face and to the point. The most popular post I’ve ever written was named, "5 Things You Shouldn’t Do Before You Die".

2. Keep your post as short as possible. Unless it's something informative that could be used for prosecution or testimonial.

3. Take a Stand. You can either be left or right, right or wrong, then stick with it no matter what.

4. Make the question as specific as possible. "I've had enough of him" might not be inspiring enough to get someone to comment. Re-iterate the point or argument of the post such as "If I'm going to take him down, what'd you think?"

5. It’s understood that the start and end of a post need to pack a punch. Most people read the introduction and the end. Well, some people do read the middle if the post is good. Give them something meaty to chew on, for example, "Hack! Over my dead body blah blah blah...." and they might even skim the rest of the post so they can comment productively.

Commenting is all about discussion. Get people thinking and debating through comments, that you'll get something extremely useful and powerful in return.
