Stephen Harper Is A Joke

Paul Sigmundson
Well if the conservatives won't seek consensus and tries to bankrupt the other parties while calling it an economic measure, why should we pay any attention to their complaints? The conservatives were not the only party to receive votes and they seem to think that they can disregard any other point of view because of their minority control. I can't see why we would allow any minority party to rule in Canada without forming a coalition that would give them a majority of votes in the House.

Matt from Oshawa
Do the members of the Conservative Party not realize that here in Canada we do not vote for who we want to be prime minister? We vote for our Members of Parliment. So their argument that this will give us a Prime Minister and government we did not vote for is seriously flawed. Not only that but the majority of Canadians did not vote for the Conservatives so in reality democracy will be better served and the Canadian population would be better represented with a coalition government.

Dave from Winnipeg
Harper stirred the hornet's nest by breaking his own fixed election date law! If he had not done so, in my opinion, the issue of the opposition going forward with replacing the government before 2009 would never have arisen. He has to live with the consequences of his self-centred and opportunistic agenda.

Dean from Edmonton
Allan Eizinas
I would assume that a coalition government would be far more democratic than that of the Harper Conservatives. He is the PM, the leader of his party and since there is no revolt over this style then he continues to function well through its use.

MDM
The Conservatives were indeed elected in the last election -- as a MINORITY government! There were given a clear mandate to work with the other parties to govern. Instead, they decided to bulldoze and bully their way through, right from the start. If they fall, it is of their own doing. This isn't about the Liberals trying to overturn the results of the election. It is about the Tories not respecting these results. Coalitions form governments is many other places in this world -- and Canada can do it too.

Boundary Dispute

The detonation of a series of nuclear devices by India and Pakistan has increased tension in South Asia and threatens to inflame long-standing boundary disputes that India has with China, Nepal, and Pakistan. The disputes with China and Pakistan have already triggered several wars. The new Hindu-nationalist government in New Delhi has reversed movement toward détente with Beijing and Islamabad. The areas in contention with China and Pakistan are among the largest land-boundary disputes in the world. China and India have yet to address their fundamental and very large land boundary disputes. Moreover, their bilateral relations are complicated by the issues of Tibet (Xizang), Sikkim, and Kashmir. India plays host to the Dalai Lama and a large number of Tibetan refugees. They present an implicit threat to Chinese control of Tibet, which it invaded in 1950.

September 1993, China and India signed an accord to reduce tensions along their border and to respect the Line of Actual Control (LAC). November 1996, China and India agreed to delimit the LAC and institute confidence-building measures (CBMs) along the frontier. The agreement pledged nonaggression, prior notification of large troop movements, a 10-km no-fly zone for combat aircraft, and exchange of maps to resolve disagreements about the precise location of the LAC. However, recently India has told China that Beijing's steadfast refusal to clarify the LAC was leading to incursions into Indian territory and political disquiet. The Indian response came after China protested "Indian movements into Sikkim". The Chinese protest was made at the flag meeting of the commanders well before Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's visit to Beijing.

The concern on the Indian side is that these incursions by China are taking place a little more frequently than India is comfortable with. Despite some pleasant noises between Manmohan Singh and Wen Jiabao, there is unlikely to be any substantive movement on the boundary issue for some time. Meanwhile, China is refusing to play ball on clarifying the LAC because of the underlying concern that India might stall on the larger question of the boundary settlement.

Back in August 1997 the Indian Defense Minister, George Fernandes, had accused the PRC of repeated violations of Indian territory, including the construction of a helipad on "Indian" territory in the disputed zone, and of aiding Pakistan's nuclear and missile programs. He publicly labeled China as India's number one threat and alleged that the PRC was stockpiling nuclear weapons in Tibet, expanding naval activity off the Burmese coast, and conducting surveillance against India from Burma's Coco Islands.

Four Possible Motions

BRIAN LAGHI , JANE TABER and GLORIA GALLOWAY
Globe and Mail Update
November 28, 2008 at 3:45 PM EST

OTTAWA — The federal Liberals have laid out a potential plan to bring down the Harper government by putting forward a motion they could use to defeat the Conservatives on Monday and replace them with a coalition made up of themselves and the NDP.

The Liberals presented four possible motions, one of which says the opposition "has lost confidence in this government, and is of the opinion that a viable alternative government can be formed within the present House of Commons."

The three other motions put forward, while critical of the government's recent fall economic update, would not mean the defeat of the Tories. Liberals were unavailable yesterday to say when they will decide which motion to use.

The first motion says the government failed to recognize the seriousness of Canada's economic situation and has not credibly presented a plan to stimulate the economy. The Liberals are also deeply angry about a proposal that would eliminate the program that provides political parties operating funds based on the number of votes they receive in federal elections.

Representatives of the Liberals, NDP and the Bloc Québécois were deep in discussions Friday aimed at cobbling together a coalition should the government be defeated.

NDP sources said party veteran Ed Broadbent held talks Thursday with former Liberal prime minister Jean Chrétien about how a coalition between their two parties could work.

This is a situation "the Tories have brought on themselves with their economic statement," Mr. Broadbent told CTV News on Friday morning. "I heard business groups this morning, they are unhappy with it. All the opposition parties are unhappy with it. So there is no question that serious discussions are going on."

By noon, however, there were indications the federal Tories had begun looking for ways to avoid a showdown.

Sources told The Globe and Mail that senior Tories have reached out to members of opposition parties in an effort to find out what compromise might be possible. It's the first sign the Tories are nervous that their economic package, which so incensed the opposition, needs to be altered in some way so as to avoid the government being toppled.

It remains by no means clear what the Tories would do to ameliorate the situation, nor what the opposition needs to drop its opposition to the package.

Nothing has been ruled out on the coalition front, one New Democrat said, contradicting reports that NDP Leader Jack Layton would not participate in a coalition government with Liberal Leader Stéphane Dion as prime minister.

That rumour must have come from the camps of one of the Liberal leadership contenders, not from the NDP, the source said, adding that every thing is on the table — including bringing in Liberal House Leader Ralph Goodale to be prime minister.

The co-operation of the Bloc would be required for any Liberal-NDP coalition to function.

Bloc representatives laughed when asked Friday if members of their party were taking part in the negotiations. But both the NDP and the Liberals said the move to unseat the Conservatives and Prime Minister Stephen Harper is being driven by all opposition parties.

God Bless India

You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains.

For Children's Sake

Benjamin: Dad, have you done something wrong recently? I saw mommy weeping all the time.

Stephen: Absolutely not! Don't be ridiculous and mind your own business son. Go to Facebook chat with your peers and leave me alone.

Benjamin: I don't want to do that because my peers started talking about you in a shameful way. They sent me a link referring to a blogger who writes a lot of negative stuff related to you. It hurts.

Rachel: Same here dad. Teachers in school looked at me in a strange way these days. I overheard they gossiped about you, I felt awfully ashamed.

Stephen: Have you lost your mind? I'm your dad and you should listen to me only! What on earth you'd believe such a thing!! I am the most powerful and remarkable person in this country, you're so fortunate to be my kids yet you should say grace!!!

Benjamin: But I went through the blogger's articles, she seemed very honest and trustworthy. I felt sorry for what'd happened to her and dad you're supposed to help her. Why would you turn a blind eye and even worse to set her up? I have a feeling that she'll become very famous one day by then your story will be spreading all over. Honestly, I don't want to be your son in that case! People will laugh at me!!

Rachel: Exactly dad. Two years later you'll be retired you may pretend nothing had ever happened but how about me? I'll be studying in high school and people will see me as a little monster because I'm your daughter! It's not fair!!

Stephen: How dare you're talking to me like that? Let me tell you I will destroy that woman whatever it takes! Yes I will continuously abuse my power to instruct more fire trucks and ambulances harassing her early in the morning, that she won't be able to film it then post it on youtube. WE'LL SEE.

Benjamin: Dad now you're talking. Do you know that many journalists we met at the conference last month told me they indeed live in the same building with the blogger, they'd recorded everything to support her statements. That's why I'm questioning you. Will you stop harassing her for our own sake? How we're going to deal with this when knowing you're such a dishonest and disgraceful person?

Rachel: Dad, please don't make us to become a joke before it's too late.

The Abduction Of Deianeira

The subject of this painting is taken from Ovid's Metamorphoses IX,101-134. Hercules marries Deianeira after wrestling the river-god Achelous for her hand. Later, during the couple's travels, the centaur offers his services to Hercules in transporting his wife Deianeira across a swollen river. But as Nessus moves away into the turbulent water, he tries to abduct Deianeira. Hercules detects the ruse and shoots an arrow poisoned with the blood of the Hydra into centaur's heart, mortally wounding him.

Here the painter chooses the scene of the abduction; Hercules, alone on the opposite shore in the background on the right, plays a minor role in the composition. All the attention is focused on the taught muscular tension of the centaur's body. His bold, triumphant face contrasts with Deianeira's fright. The positioning of the figures' arms imparts vigor to the scene, accentuated further by the flowing movement of the brilliantly colored drapery of Deianeira's robes.

Guido Reni was one of the 17th century's most influential painters. He worked for twelve years in Rome before becoming permanently established in Bologna in 1614. Reni was influenced by classical statuary and the work of Raphael. The vigorous treatment of the centaur's torso, as well as the anatomical detail, attest to these influences. This painting is one of a series of four works based on the life of Hercules, commissioned from Reni in 1617 and completed in 1621. The works were to illustrate the power of the famous Lombard family, by way of analogy to the mythical hero's strength and courage. The four paintings met with considerable success.

Indecent Conspiracy

21 Nov 4:17am

21 Nov 3:45pm

Prime Minister Stephen Harper is expected to tout free trade as an antidote to the global harassment crisis when he attends the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum in Peru this weekend.

Free and open markets for False Alarm and EMS services are the best way to ensure the global humanity rebounds quickly, according to Harper, who was to depart for Lima on Friday morning.

Senior officials have said APEC leaders will be using the meeting as an opportunity, to follow up on Stephen Harper and Wen Jiabao's indecent conspiracy.

"My colleagues as well as myself, recognize the importance of this particular moment of chance, the importance of being able to take part in the Wen Jiabao Sexual Harassment Scandal," said Foreign Affairs Minister Lawrence Cannon, who is also attending the meetings.

The Late Night Show is getting better and better. Never knew that Bruce Willis could be so funny, laughed too hard that I could hardly breathe until he threw away the wig. And Emma Thompson struggled with the furry fox...LOL.

Carla Bruni seemed very sincere, out spoken, elegant and sweet. She's cool and I really like her voice.

A side note to Craig, please leave Charlie alone as every time I saw you mocking him I laughed my head off. How lucky to have you guys keeping me company every night before I go to sleep. Thanks, love you all.

Falling Giant

Jerry Yang, Yahoo’s Chief Executing Officer announced his resignation on November 18, yet will keep his position on Yahoo’s board of directors. Yahoo board members have asked executive-search firm Heidrick & Struggles International Incorporated to look for a replacement for Yang.

The move comes as no surprise to many, since Yahoo has been trying to cope with numerous financial issues for a while now, resorting to every means possible to keep the company independent, and Yang has come into much criticism for his inability to properly handle the situation.

The 40-year old co-founder is reaping the consequences of the huge pressure following this summer’s failed takeover by Microsoft. Back to the end of January, Microsoft offered Yahoo $31 a share, but Yang turned it down. Many shareholders strongly criticised Yang's approach. As a result shareholders have lost large profits of the rejection of Microsoft's offer. Microsoft's final offer amounted to $33 per Yahoo share – at close of business on Monday, they were worth just $10.63. Furthermore, Microsoft has repeatedly stated that it will not be making a new offer.

Meanwhile, Yahoo is fighting falling profits and is in the process of making around 10 percent of its workforce redundant.

Because of Christ Jesus, I can take pride in my service for God. In fact, all I will talk about is how Christ let me speak and work, so that the Gentiles would obey him. Indeed, I will tell how Christ worked miracles and wonders by the power of the Holy Spirit. I have preached the good news about him all the way from Jerusalem to Illyricum. But I have always tried to preach where people have never heard about Christ. I am like a builder who doesn't build on anyone else's foundation. It is just as the Scriptures say,

"All who haven't been told

about him

will see him,

and those who haven't heard

about him

will understand."

Prince Charles's Birthday

LONDON (Reuters Life!) - Britain's Prince Charles celebrates his 60th birthday on Friday with an improved rating in popular opinion, laughs, parties and an official portrait in the uniform of the Welsh Guards.

The Prince of Wales, who is one of the longest-serving heirs to the British throne was greeted on his birthday by a poll showing more people prefer him to succeed his mother Queen Elizabeth as monarch than his photogenic elder son William.

The poll, carried out by YouGov, found 42 percent of people were in favor of him succeeding the Queen, compared to 35 percent who thought the throne should skip a generation to Prince William, Charles's elder son.

When the same question was asked in 2005, only 31 percent backed Charles, while 42 percent preferred William, whose mother was the late Princess Diana.

Charles was just three when his mother became Queen, making him, as her eldest son, heir to the throne. The Queen, now 82, is the oldest reigning monarch in the history of the nation and is still in good health. Her mother lived to be 101.

Celebrations to mark Charles's birthday included a comedy gala, featuring John Cleese, Rowan Atkinson and Robin Williams, as well as a concert and banquet at Buckingham Palace.

Prince Charles and his wife Camilla Parker Bowles, will also host a private party at Highgrove, their Gloucestershire home, at which Rod Stewart will perform.

Shame On You Prime Minister

Dear Prime Minister

We're so afraid there will be no electricity no heat no nothing in the coming days, there's no laughing matter during winter time. Will you try harder to protect us from being annoyed or disturbed? If you cannot get your job done will you pass it on to someone else who's more capable?

Now it's already 9pm Eastern time on Nov 11 we're still running out of water. Although it appeared there's water on the ground floor. Odd things keep happening in this specific building but nobody really cares. Shame on you.

Who Do You Think You Are

Folks, if you think the Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, has learned his lesson after the election, no he hasn't.

Last Friday night I played badminton in uptown, when a friend dropped me off at the Sheppard Subway station at 11pm, I couldn't believe what I'd seen as there was an ambulance parking on the side way quietly. Yet as soon as I stepped out, the ambulance turned on the sirens amusing me. Yes, that ambulance had been there waiting for me, a hostile gesture warning me someone was still in charge, as usual. Pretty scary right? Indeed. So who could that someone be? Wen Jiabao and Stephen Harper certainly, they're identical twins graduated with first class honor in Political Drama.

If we think before and after the federal election, Stephen Harper had coped with a lot of bad publicity for his own conspiracy being exposed, that'd have made him a good PM afterwards, we're all wrong. Public servants have become his tools for vengeance, what had gone worse, I heard sirens when I was in a church few weeks ago. This is way too far across the line!

I'm no ordinary citizen as I'm a victim suppose to be protected by the government. Stephen Harper may cut all the craps about witness protection scheme or intelligence service regarding national security, for I'd read and seen hundreds of the detective and spy stories in my life. I truly know how it works, and why it doesn't work. It doesn't work only because nobody has ever wanted it to work in the first or second place. If you think the PM has done no harm to me so far, you need to think again, he hasn't done anything against me simply because he knows journalists and photographers from all over the world, have stayed close enough to cover my tragic story if I'm hurt.

Shortly I'll shift my battlefield to somewhere else, that's my next assignment I've told. My mission in Canada was accomplished. The reason I'd suffered here is the purpose to open your eyes to stay alert. Always keep an eye on the authorities, don't take anything for granted, freedom by all means is not free, at all. We'd successfully prevented Harper from forming a majority government, and we'd defeated Stephane Dion pushing him to step down. We Canadians have proved to the world we're great people united as a great nation, the awful shame is solely on Stephen Harper and he will pay a high price for his shameful conduct very soon. Can't wait to see his unbeatable performance at the Summit G20, we'll be watching him under a lot of spot lights see if he could convince many other world leaders of his innocence or incompetence without a shame on his face. Can't wait to laugh.

Stephen Harper thought that he's in charge because there's nothing I can do about him. He's betting I would keep my mouth shut for my own sake. Well, he has gone too far underestimating me. I do not bend, no matter how difficult the situation is. I've come this far for I'm not alone, GOD HAS BEEN MY STRENGTH.

Stephen Harper, who do you think you are? May God bless Canada.

Birthday Wishes

Sweetheart

It's time to plan ahead for our future, we've been missing each other for too long. My suggestion is, come to Toronto we'll get married then go for honeymoon. Later I wish to meet with your beloved family and you will meet mine too. By any chance for any reason I'm prohibited to entering HK, the press will help to justify.

After we have settled our new lives, we'll contribute our effort to the community together, such as promoting the universal suffrage in 2017. We'll maintain our lives in a high class but low key profile.

Before Christmas is the best timing for us, what could have better than spending our precious time during the festive season remembering Jesus Christ our Savior.

On this special day sending you my special thoughts, with endless love and blessings.

Two Shots Missed

Prologue

In the middle of the night she was awake. She heard something, in less than a second her heartbeat had risen to an extreme level. She held her breath and kept her eyes closed pretending she knew nothing. She had frozen praying she had been dreaming. In the Holiday Inn on King, someone was there in her room, ready to release the hummer of a gunlock by her bed. The tension would have killed her if not the bullet. At the most dangerous moment in her life, only God could have saved her. Without hesitation she flipped over her body to the other side, anything should have happened it happened, she fell back to sleep......

All the taxi drivers in the area appeared to be spies from somewhere. It was chilly in the street with minors 10-15 Celsius degree. She needed one to move around checking out her options of accommodation. It had to be a large scale hotel instead of some fancy or trendy so-called boutique ones. Marriott she wanted to give it a try, asked the driver to pull over and wait. While climbing up the stairs, she suddenly slipped and fell like a crashing toy. The Sniper across the street had missed his target the second time.

Every Vote Counts

" Wow...I love this video. Can't wait to vote for Obama my dear as I strongly believe he's the one who can deal with the economy, forget about national security. Who cares about Al-Qaeda or Wen Jiabao while we can't pay off the mortgages of our homes. And change is all we need ! Surely you'll vote for John McCain right ? "

" No no, I'll vote for Obama too. "

" Really ??? How so as I always thought you're a Republican. "

" Oh I am Independent. "

" Wait a minute I'm confused..."

" Let me explain to you in simple language. During the last eight years, Republicans have done more than enough to clean up the aftermath caused by the Democrats, I honestly think it's time to hand it over. They created it and they must know how to fix it, so to speak. "

" But...I don't get it ? We all know it's the Bush administration should be held responsible ! "

" OK, simple language doesn't work well here. Take some time to read the following, it really truly is self-explanatory. "

In 1999 the Congress enacted and President Clinton signed into law the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, also known as the "Financial Services Modernization Act," which repealed the part of the Glass-Steagall Act prohibiting a bank from offering a full range of investment, commercial banking, and insurance services. The bill was killed in 1998 because Senator Phil Gramm wanted the bill to expand the number of banks which no longer would be covered by the CRA. He also demanded full disclosure of any financial deals which community groups had with banks, accusing such groups of extortion. On signing the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, President Clinton said that, " it establishes the principles that, as we expand the powers of banks, we will expand the reach of the Community Reinvestment Act ".

Consequently the current global economic crisis finds its roots in “The Community Reinvestment Act of 1977.” The CRA was liberalized under the Clinton administration whereby such silly questions as, “Does your income allow you to pay this proposed mortgage?” were considered discriminatory and therefore eliminated. In July 1993, President Clinton asked regulators to reform the CRA in order to make examinations more consistent, clarify performance standards, and reduce cost and compliance burden. Over the subsequent years lending standards became laxer, interest rates fell, housing prices rose, mortgages grew fancier, and the elected officials promoted a sort of financial carpe diem under the mantra that everyone should own a house even if they couldn’t afford it. While many bank-based mortgage officers railed at some of the mortgage loans they were making, they were encouraged to keep doing so because those questionable loans could always be sold to, you guessed it, Fannie Mae (FNM/$1.83) and Freddie Mac (FRE/$2.00). The resulting spider web of financial foolishness hit its zenith in late 2004, causing some rational folks to sound the alarm.

Nothing Can Go Wrong

Sweetheart, if I were you I 'd give up. This is all heart breaking and incredibly unfair. We've given up almost everything fighting for their autonomy, after all they turned their back on us.

Yep. To be perfectly honest, my heart is bleeding, badly.

Why don't we leave everything behind and go our way, starting our new life in a new place. Let them suffer from their own deeds as they wish, till then they'll realise why we'd fought so hard in the first place. It's their free will if they're ready to learn the lesson in a hard way. Let go and we may enjoy the rest of our lives.

Sweetheart I just can't do that, people are allowed to make mistakes. Imagine this, after 911 President Bush has done a great job to defend the country from being attacked again. And he's been succeed. At first everybody had supported him in every way, yet tended to forget what'd happened over time. People have started blaming him for everything, and I mean EVERYTHING. I'm pretty sure his heart was bleeding too. Nevertheless he's never give up on his people simply because he's been penalised. He wouldn't back off to allow anybody who might have a chance hurting his people, then lecturing those who've against him " see I've told you so ". Isn't this all unjustified? But he must carry on because it's all about accountability. Furthermore I believe the most important quality of a leader is VISION, he/she must be able to visualise any advantages or disadvantages lay ahead before anybody else jumps into a conclusion.

So we're not going anywhere until this project has done? Will you miss me as much as I miss you?

Sweetheart you know I always miss you, and love you with all my heart. You're irreplaceable as we're meant to be together. Just be patient and listen to God, nothing can go wrong.

" Say if I give you three hundred dollars to spend, but you'll likely be robbed and beaten as soon as you step out the door. Or if I give you nothing but you'll be able to make a few bucks on your own, then spend it freely and safely on the road. What'd you prefer, son? "

" Hm...can I take that money and stay home, dad? "

" What's the point of doing so, my son? "
